Getting GOLD STAR Ready: Roadmap to Accreditation
The Building Performance Institute for California Home Improvement Contractors

Thursday, July 1, 2010

HOME STAR, also known as `Cash for Caulkers`, is a proposed nationwide incentive program for home performance retrofit and weatherization projects, intended to encourage homeowners to invest in improving the energy efficiency of their homes, while also creating sustainable jobs in local communities. The federal legislation has been approved by the U.S. House of Representatives and was proposed in the U.S. Senate with bi-partisan support.

Building Performance Institute (BPI) Accredited Contracting Companies will play a major role in this $6 billion program. Only BPI accredited companies - or a comparable accreditation approved by the Secretary of the U.S. Department of Energy - can implement energy efficiency improvement measures under the Gold Star portion of the program.

Who should attend:
Owners, senior management, accountant/bookkeeper staff, and other key employees with companies focused on Home Performance, residential and small commercial remodeling, replacement and contracting services.
